Last LaRonde

The weekend before the big event, we had a boys only day at LaRonde and let Donna rest and relax.

Since we had the season pass we went one last time for the year for Halloween. Like last year, they had the place decked out in a Halloween theme… pumpkins, spiders, and people dressed up as vampires and rats walking around the park. There was even some kids already in their Halloween costumes.

I was going to buy some popcorn for us to snack on, but it was only being sold in the reusable bucket container for $10 (they must have hundreds left from the 2008 season) and it was way too much for the boys to eat late in the day. So we got beaver tails instead. In retrospect maybe not the best thing to give little kids with all that sugar, but certainly less volume than the bucket of popcorn and I didn't want them to be stuffed for dinner. I split one between the boys and they did eat most of it, but ET was disappointed he got a plain one and not the chocolate. They a got a plain one mainly do to my unwillingness to clean up all the chocolate they would invariably smear all over themselves… especially Carts.

We played some air hockey at the arcade (see the video) and the boys really liked that. Though Carts did get frustrated that he couldn't hit the puck very often. Did wish they had some more kid friendly games; I just don't think shooting zombies is appropriate for kids four and under. Call me crazy.

It might have been a little cold, but the sun was out and we had a real enjoyable day. Plus it was a great confidence booster to my dad skills.

Amuse In The Rain

With having season passes to LaRonde we really want to get our money's worth. On the other hand since we have the passes there are times we might go when other people might not.

Last Sunday was over cast and although it wasn't officially raining, there was enough drizzle that I had to wipe the seats with the arm of my sweater for the boys.

Upside? The lines were short to non-existent.

LaRonde Opening Weekend 2008

Well we've made the investment this year again of season passes for LaRonde. Last year we went so often that we made our money back and it's a great activity for the boys. Plus they usually fall asleep on the way home.

They seem to have done away with the Sponge Bob Square Pants 3D ride and moved the Nintendo pavilion into the space. It kind of sucks because that was the only modern high tech ride at the park that was comparable to a ride at Universal Studios. Of course the 3D scared ET a bit last year and they boys would still be too small to sit on the hydraulic seats.

It was a beautiful day and the park was not that packed (well at least the kiddie rides). Donna's brother Steven came with us and in 3 hours was only able to get on three roller coasters. Yikes.

The one downside to the day is that with Donna in her present condition can't even go on the kid rides so it now takes twice as long to go on them. The upside is that Donna is now the photographer this summer and you'll be seeing photos of me and the boys!

What is nice though is that ET is now tall enough to go on a few by himself and scare us to death.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Halloween

We spent a few hours at LaRonde today and they have all the Halloween decorations out early.

Ethan is really looking forward to Halloween this year and tells us about how he's going to get candy and dress as Thomas the Tank Engine at night. He's going as Buzz Lightyear at daycare and Carter is going as sheriff Woody. I can't wait to see them dressed up!
