1951 Canadian Nickel

The 1951 Canadian Nickel commemorated the 200th anniversary of the element nickel ‘s discovery and classification by Swedish mineralogist Axel Fredrik Cronstedt.

Featuring a nickel smelter on it’s front face and created by Hungarian born Stephen Trenka (later a naturalization Canadian citizen) saw a mintage of 12,642,641.

This was given to me by my father.
